Film: March 2017

Yay I have new things to show and a new post to write. Today has been a really busy day, mainly because tomorrow me and Tom are heading to Mannheim in Germany for Time Warp festival!! I'm so excited...
This week and last week have been really good fun, the weather is slowly getting better and Agnese came down from London last Tuesday until this Tuesday so we made most of that time and hanged out loads.
When developing my last roll of film I managed to tempt myself into trying out a new camera they had on sale in the shop... Meet the Ricoh FF-9.... I got these pictures developed this Monday and actually couldn't decide in that moment whether I liked the pictures or not. It's taken me a few looks at them, but I've decided that I do really like the images I got from it. Mainly the fact that I can take low exposure shots! I managed to sneak another go on it and I'm currently half way through my second film, which I hope to finish this weekend. But saying that I think I've decided that I will buy the camera. It's so handy and small and easy to use.. It certainly cannot replace my Diana Mini as I am forever realising that that camera is just truly unique.. And these pictures won't be taking up my Diana Mini book either, but rather I'll put them with all my other 4x6 images in a separate album. As for my Diana Mini book, I counted up all the pages and worked out that I have space for another 22 film rolls before the book is complete - how ridiculous is that. So if I use a roll a month it'll be completed in two years. I feel like that's totally un-achievable, but I'll give it my best shot nonetheless... And so my new camera the simple Ricoh will be kept for more experimental shots, where I want to appreciate low lighting and a sharper image.

Enjoy the pics and I'll write again soon!!

Film: February/March 2017

Finally I've developed a film. The photos are okay but it seems that the Bulb setting was on throughout most of the roll. I've been struggling really to finish films off and its annoying but I guess thats because its Winter and not a lot has been happening. Or I should just accept that my life is a lot less interesting and requires a lot less photo taking (which is slightly depressing). I'm still wishing I was more creative with my image taking and made more of the opportunities I do get to take pictures.
The camera lab I get my images developed suggested I could try out some of the cameras they have for sale to see if I liked the quality of them (and maybe buy them). It's tempting and I'll probably take them up on the offer but that leaves me with the question of What about my Diana Mini. That poor blessed thing and the giant book that is forever never finished. I'm starting to doubt my ability to ever fill it completely. It would involve at least another 3 years of dedicated photo taking. Lets hope life gets a little bit more capture worthy. Haha I'll looking at this grimly. I always have lots to look forward to.
Next week the girls are getting together for an evening out on the town. Although plans are not finalized. I'll promise to take plenty of pictures however. Maybe I need to start experimenting my Diana Mini again, try didn't shots, different lighting. I think I need to remember I don't only have to capture peoples faces. Also another thing thats getting on my nerves is the fact that it seems now more than ever before people can't figure out how to use the little camera! I'll hand it to a stranger (in order to get a picture with myself in) and explain what part to press down and they just don't get it. Like at all! And I'm so miffed by it because I used to just hand the camera to people of the same inexperience and wouldn't have to explain a thing. So that slightly knocks my confidence because I feel like its such hassle asking people to take photos.

I've just realised I haven't written since before my birthday. I had a lovely time celebrating and some really lovely presents. Being 22 doesn't feel any different although I'm quite glad I'm not 21 anymore. I'll try write again soon and hopefully have another film to post in not too long of a time. Everyones so busy at the moment with deadlines and work and lives of their own. It's exciting, but I can't wait for Summer and hopefully a bit more free time to enjoy.

Winter

Finally getting round to putting together my Winter instagram pics and I'm happy to say today feels wonderfully Spring like. I've been for a walk round Bute Park in the morning and was absolutely overjoyed by the amount of daffodils and primroses that had already bloomed. I even spotted a single blossomed tree and ended up walking home with my coat off because I was so hot! Good signs everywhere. Today has been a simple day off, I've got a few little things done and finished off my 2nd English Assignment which is due tomorrow. I think I'm going to enjoy the remaining sun now and bask on my sofa as I flick through a magazine. All roads lead to this weekend, a birthday trip away to Maidstone, Kent. With dancing all day Saturday (are you surprised) and a little explore around the town before back to Cardiff for my actual birthday.
I should hopefully have more blog posts coming your way this month, as I'm ever more keen to snap up moments. Can you believe I haven't completed a Diana Mini film since December!! I'm heartbroken, this cannot continue!

Plants and Other Things

So I'm blogging again, and I actually feel so great about it.
This morning me and Tom woke up so early! It must of been because it's beginning to get light now before 7am, which I absolutely love, but we are going to have to do something to keep the light out better in the bedroom. At 6.30am we looked at each other and asked is that really the time?! We stayed in bed a bit longer until I finally saw the sun hit the rooftops opposite our apartment. That was it, I was up and out of bed and straight to our camera. And so the morning went with me skirting around the apartment, taking photos of whatever caught my eye as the sun crept across our living room.
Now I'm sat here ready to begin my days tasks and I thought, I might as well make the most of this light while it lasts and sit in it as I write a blog post (perfection). So here are a few of the pictures I took this morning.

Enjoy and I'll write again soon!
