Madrid Day Four

Final Madrid post is here (apart from a few more film rolls). Our last full day was the Thursday and we spent it strolling around Madrid again.
First we headed to this really cool interior decor store and I bought some funky planters.
Then we headed out, first to a very big central square (I can't seem to find it anymore on Google Maps so don't have the name haha). We ate churros and chocolate dip and then continued on to the Parque de El Retiro.
At the park we had a picnic which ended up being a feeding of the local birds (they seemed a real fan of walnuts!) It was so adorable, they literally would queue to have a piece and then fly off to eat/feed their babies. And of course they kept coming back for more!
After an afternoon spent relaxing in the park we walked all the way back to the flat and then chilled out for a bit before heading out for the evening.
This time for a final meal with Kassia and Zeno at an amazing vegan burger restaurant - they were incredible!!
And that is all from our lovely little trip!!
Friday was spent travelling which as I mentioned in the first post, was pretty dire.

Madrid is so worth the visit though! Amazing atmosphere and so much to see and explore.
4 days now until Barcelona with the ladies.
Tom is off to Amsterdam with his friends tomorrow and I won't see him until I'm back next Friday!! I don't know if we've ever not seen each other for that long!

I'll try write again before I go, but saying that I don't really have anything lined up to show you! You may have to wait till after Barcelona for the last of the Madrid films, so we shall see!

Film: Madrid 2017

So this is the first film I have from Madrid and I have to say overall I really like the pictures.
I'm only slightly irritated by the thumb additions, which I clearly need to get better at avoiding.
Pictures are from Day One, Two and Three at the start of our hike :)

I guess I could give a quick update. I am pretty good! All finished with my first year of doing my access course (until September now). Only an essay to write which I'm in the pre-panick phase of. (You know when you don't actually have a clue what you're going to write about just yet and just hoping by some miracle it'll all come together...) Yeah... But I have until next Monday to get my shit together (and I will) I'll borrow a few books from the library, make a decent plan and a few rough drafts all in time to not feel stressed during my Barcelona trip with the girls!! Eeek I'm so excited! I actually need to do some research on it all so we can arrange a day out hiking somewhere. But so far the weather is looking mid-twenties, which is nowhere near how hot it was in Madrid but still better than here haha!
I'm so ready to escape for a little bit again, and to have even more posts to write when I return!!
Also last year today me and Tom headed out on our adventures across Europe!! How depressing is that. But it was one of the most incredible times of my life and whenever I look back at pictures it just makes me want to do it all over again (especially the hiking). If you'd like to have a little look if you haven't already here's the link the my first post from the trip >> The First Post of Our Europe Adventure!

I'll be writing again soon!

Madrid 2017 Day Three

Our second full day in the sunshine was spent up a mountain in Penalara National Park an hour bus journey outside of Madrid.
We walked over to the bus station with Zeno around 8.30 in the morning, had some very quick breakfast and then hopped on our bus and headed on our way.
The area was truly stunning, we got taken up to a remote peak across from a ski slope (closed due to the season). We got off the bus and then headed over to a Visitor's Center where we were able to get a map and decide which route to take.
There were so many routes it was really refreshing to see such an accessible National Park. We decided to keep it straight-forward and head to the highest peak. That way we could take in the surrounding landscape as well.
The views were well and truly incredible, we could see out so far and from the peak got a complete panoramic. It was a very pleasant hike, the only hiccup being the enormous amount of ladybirds and flies, flying at us from all directions. We later realized they must of all just been born very recently. There were so many!!

We made our way back down and after a quick refreshment at a cafe at the bottom, waited for our bus back to the city to arrive. Not before making friends with some wandering cows!
That evening we took it easy and wandered around the local area for a bit before sitting somewhere for some food.

Next post we travel a bit more around the city and have a lovely final evening..
